Wondering what financial planning with Wealthwyzr looks like? Here’s the process explained in 9 easy steps. When we work together, the topics of each meeting may vary slightly based on your personal priorities. After all, personal finance is personal.

Step 1

Free 15-Minute Discovery Call

This is your chance to talk with Avanti Shetye, CFA about what you want to achieve through financial planning, and understand how I can help you achieve your goals. Think of this call as a screening interview.

Step 2

Consultation Call

In this meeting, we will dive deeper into your life goals, and talk about your family, money situation, what’s important to you, and why you are thinking about getting help with your finances. I will explain how financial planning works in simple terms. This meeting is a chance for both of us to see if we are a good mutual fit.

Step 3

On-boarding and data collection

I will provide you with disclosures, and we will sign agreements. We will schedule our first planning meeting. I will also give you a checklist of documents we need to start working on your financial plan and send you a link to upload your documents securely.

Step 4

Financial picture

We will get an idea of your current net worth, and determine what you want your future financial picture to look like. We will also discuss risk tolerance, and clarify short-term and long-term financial goals. Your specific priorities will dictate the actual course of future meetings.

Step 5

Risk assessment

We will review your insurance needs and determine if there are any gaps in your current coverage – life, disability, home, rental, auto. I’ll give you options and time to decide which one is right for you. I don’t sell insurance or make any money from the options I present.

Step 6

Strategy development

Based on your goals and financial analysis, we will discuss investment strategies to make your goals possible. We will run different scenarios to determine what is possible and what can change. I will make specific investment recommendations and help you implement those recommendations.

Step 7

Getting very personal

We will discuss special topics such as buying a house or investment property, starting a business, college savings plans, career changes, stock options, etc. as they apply to your specific situation.

Step 8

Estate planning

We will discuss about your future, the legacy you want to leave, and how to build generational wealth. We will review trusts, powers of attorney, wills, and more.

Step 9

Final Review and plan

This is the final step where we will review the completed financial plan together. This is not the end of our relationship. My ultimate goal is to help you achieve financial success and peace of mind. After this review, we can plan to meet on a regular or an as-needed basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Once you’ve had your discovery call and initial consultation and decided to work with me, it takes approximately 4-6 months to complete all the phases of your financial plan. Between meetings, it takes 3-5 hours of work. After the complete financial plan is reviewed and delivered, I’ll meet with you on a regular basis and as frequently as your situation requires to make sure everything is still in alignment with your goals and values.

Initial financial plans in our full-service financial planning arrangements start at $7,500 and go up with complexity. I offer a 10% discount to K-12 educators.

I believe in simplicity. Research shows that passive investing has historically outperformed active investing. Asset allocation impacts investment returns more than security selection. I use a combination of indexed funds and ETFs in my investment portfolios.

Absolutely! We can work together as long as you reside in the United States and have internet connectivity.

No. I am a fee-only financial planner. The only way I get paid is by providing you with unbiased financial advice, so there is no room for any conflicts.

I am an advice-only planner at the moment. I may add investment management services in the future. But if you need help managing your investments, I will hold your hand and make sure you have all the necessary information to trade in your accounts.

Financial planning is holistic. It is not possible to advise on just one area without analyzing all areas of your personal finances.

It depends. I do my best work with young families. But since you read all the way to the bottom of the FAQs, I may be able to help you. If I am not the best person for your situation, I’ll work to help you find a financial planner who may be a better fit.
